Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
This policy explains what Steel Lantern ("we", "us") collects on steellantern.com and when you pay for one of our tools, and what we do with it. Each tool also has its own privacy terms for what that tool handles, listed on Policies at a glance.
1. Information we collect
What you give us: your name, email address and business details when you write to us, sign up or pay, and anything you put in a message.
When you pay: our payment processor collects your card details. We receive the result: your name, email, billing country and postcode, what you bought, the amount, and the card's brand and last four digits. We never receive your full card number.
When you visit: steellantern.com counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites. Our hosting keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and working.
We don't ask for, and you shouldn't send us, sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or health records.
2. How we use it
To provide and bill for the tools you choose, send receipts and account emails, answer your messages, prevent fraud and abuse, keep records the law requires, and improve the site and tools.
3. Cookies and tracking
steellantern.com sets no cookies. A tool may use a cookie to keep you signed in; its own privacy terms say so. We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell personal information. We share it only with:
- service providers who help run the business: hosting and edge network, payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, and website analytics, each only for that job;
- professional advisers, such as an accountant;
- authorities, when the law requires it or to protect people's safety or our rights;
- a buyer or successor, if the business or a tool is sold or reorganized.
5. How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Payment and tax records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Messages you send are kept while they're useful for helping you. Then we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
6. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls and limited access to data. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll tell you as the law requires if a breach affects your information.
7. Children
Our site and tools are for adults and businesses, not for children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, write to us and we'll delete it.
8. Where it's processed
We're based in the United States. If you're elsewhere, your information is processed in the U.S. and possibly other countries where our service providers operate, whose laws may differ from yours.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or get a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to stop marketing emails. California residents also have the right to know what we collect and to not be discriminated against for using these rights; we don't sell or share personal information for advertising. Write to bryan@steellantern.com. We'll confirm your request and answer within the time the law allows.
10. De-identified data
We may use information that can't identify you, such as totals and counts, to understand and improve the tools. We won't try to re-identify it.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll post any update here with a new date, and give notice by email or on the site for a material change.
